tag...you're it

I'm home but sadly the blog suffered terribly at my being away. A bizarre sickness brought on by neglect some say. I have consulted the blog doctor who rapped my knuckles citing cruelty to computers. With my tail between my legs and my computer barely operating as it moves out of strike mode I coerce my blog into being friends once more.
Not a minute too soon as Angelique has tagged me in my absence and is casually dropping hints as to my shocking hibernation on the blog front. On arrive!! Just as soon as I've poured myself a nice glass of wine.....

Ok so ...
These are the rules:
a.Each player lists 8 facts/habits about themselves.
b.The rules of the game are posted at the beginning before those facts/habits are listed.
c.At the end of the post, the player tags 8 people & posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment letting them know that they have been tagged & asking them to read your blog. I will bow out of that bit as I still don't have many blog contacts...

So now the serious stuff:

1.I have been bitten by a scorpion.
2.I have a children's book written called "I will only wear pink" that the publisher's won't touch with a barge pole.
3.I have flown a helicopter.
4.When I see sharks underwater I commonly pretend to be a coconut.
5.When I was 7 I was dragged by my pony, Shaggy (!??!).Instead of dealing with the blood my father got me drunk until my mother got home.
6.I worked in a refugee camp on the Thai/Burmese border with a Burmese hill tribe called the Karen who ran away from the Burmese military dictatorship.
7.Chocolate and wine are my vices.
8.We are building a house in Perth. I will be detailing this in my new blog My Aussie Build which will be up and running soon.

This was part of our back garden when we saw it in September! More on that later...

can I come too daddy?

Luca Ananda Campbell Friedman was recently spotted attempting to stow away in her father's luggage.Due to lack of camouflage material and disproportionate size to that available Ms Friedman was advised by her sister that there were better ways to run away from home, most of
which were a lot more comfortable.

i love to be beside the sea

Yesterday was Kim's last day home before flying off to Marshall Islands for 3 weeks. As he will miss Luca's 1st birthday we took some cake down to the sea. Luca ate more or less equal proportions of sand and cake and washed it down with a bucket of sea water but she seemed to have a good time.
Jess Willow and I swam for about 3 minutes because the water was extremely freezing. Refreshing nonetheless and helped us to feel less enormous after the cake we had stuffed.

Our beautiful daughter - cool patch girl

This post is dedicated to our beautiful daughter, Jess Willow who's had it tough on the health front lately. Within a few months we have been to the allergist, the orthodontist and the opthalmologist.

In a nutshell Jess Willow has:

  • an allergy to dust mites
  • big teeth and a little mouth so not much room for her teeth
  • a stigmatism in her left eye reducing her vision to less than 50%

Yet she still dances like a princess, has more energy than twenty toddlers and loves her little sister like there's no tomorrow.

She must wear a patch 24hours a day (if she can) for 10 days. Then after a recheck she can stop....or must continue for up to another 6 weeks - our holiday time.......

Will keep you posted on the latest french eye patches on cool patch girl...

Friends for now....

On the weekend Kim and Manu took up the chess challenge. It wasn't a fast affair. I was upstairs for 2 hours and when I came down nothing had moved. Banana cake came and went... as did copious cups of tea. Three and a half hours later it was all over. And they were still friends!
And who won?
You had to be there to know.

Is that wide enough??

Luca is beginning to enjoy her food. Vegemite on toast is the all-round fave followed closely by shopping bills. Shopping trolley handles come a close third.
Jess Willow is in awe of this eating machine sister of hers and has taken to eating enormous bowls of pasta to show that she too can be a machine.
How many years must we wait for the females in the family to contend for the ''fastestlitreofchocolateicecream".
Who will win?
Are some people already in training???
And finally....is it all really worth it? For to go off ice-cream could be worse than winning the prize...
